A Crash Course on Rebuilding Trust

Trust is broken; what can you do now?

Trust isn’t easy to acquire from a person. But if you build enough of it with someone, goals become easier to attain – particularly when you’re aiming to build a highly profitable business.

Yet, life happens, and sometimes we find ourselves in a situation where we have broken this precious bond of trust with our customer.

Trust is vital to accomplishing your goals, but it is also the hardest to build. You can only imagine how difficult it is to rebuild trust after it has been shattered.

But what if we aim to rebuild the trust that has been broken?

“When trust is broken, it does not need to be the end of a relationship. Much can be learned from staying in a relationship and learning from the conflict situation.”

– Dr. Margaret Paul

When one builds trust in another, there is this unspoken bond that is built between them. From there, they can accomplish goals more efficiently compared to those without trust ever could.

When this bond breaks, reconciliation isn’t an easy feat to accomplish. In the world of business, the burden lies on the business owner, to regain the trust of irate customers.

Rebuilding trust and maintaining a client’s business can be achieved in various ways, starting with:

  • Taking responsibility for an issue you know you could have avoided;
  • Listening closely to complaints;
  • Empathize with the client for the inconvenience that they have to deal with,
  • And let the client work with you in coming up with a solution.

Rebuilding trust might seem a lot of work, but it really doesn’t have to be.

 1.)   Acknowledge what you did that broke the trust. Do not blame others – own it!

2.)   Ask for forgiveness- A simple but sincere apology will go a long way to mending the

       relationship.

3.)   Act – Your behavior following your apology will be what earns you someone’s renewed

       trust.  Put your actions behind your words.

It is really easy.  All you have to do is to listen, learn, and think about the client first.

Concentrate on reconnecting with your audience and always take their needs into account. Through rebuilding broken bridges, you will be enabled to run a business that serves you and helps your clients achieve their goals.
