Injecting Creativity into Your Business

by | Jun 23, 2021 | Business Strategy

We often think of capital as financial resources. Having more of it means having a wider variety of options to build a business.

But capital isn’t limited to money. You are also investing time and effort in coming up with an innovative business idea.

Apart from these, there is still one critical factor that allows you to gather these different resources and provide your audience with something fresh and authentic.

I’m talking about creative capital.

Intelligence in a nutshell

We are the only creature on this planet that thinks, plans and takes action based upon those thoughts and plans. Of course, some animals are capable of problem-solving, but it’s only humans who are capable of harnessing the power of thought to change the world.

Whether you are a young entrepreneur or a veteran in the world of business, you need to believe in your capacity to provide a product or service that will benefit the most number of people.

To do that, you need to harness two different aspects of intelligence.

There is analytical or linear thinking. This dimension allows you to figure out systems and patterns that are crucial to solving problems. You use logic and common sense to find your way around a challenge.

Then again, analytical thinking only relies on established principles and existing facts. If you want to solve problems in a more authentic and innovative way, you will need to tap the other aspects of intelligence.

Never underestimate creative thought

Creative thought is not concerned with analysis and logic. It seeks a result but is completely unconcerned with process and principles.

Instead, it relies on juxtaposition, viewpoint, and connection to solve a problem. It seeks to see the world from a new and different angle and to challenge the norm. It can be thought of as non-linear thinking.

The power of creative thought is enormous in the world of business where unique ideas make a big difference. It allows you to take the resources you have and use them to revolutionize your processes. And it does so by working hand-in-hand with analytical thinking.

For instance, if you see a drop in your sales figures, analyzing your marketing campaign gets you to the root of the problem and helps you identify the best solution. Creativity, on the other hand, will provide you with ideas on how to maximize the solution. You can start a YouTube series or run special promos that allow you to grow your customer base and, eventually, generate more revenue.

Connecting unrelated concepts in new ways is the very heart of creativity. By injecting creative capital into your business, no challenge is too difficult for you to get around.
